Brazil will stage 2014 World Cup

The 2014 FIFA Football World Cup will be the 20th FIFA World Cup, and will be held in Brazil. It was scheduled to take place in South America and Brazil was selected on 30 October 2007 to host the competition as the only country to put in a bid.
This will be the second time Brazil hosts the competition; the country also hosted the 1950 FIFA World Cup. It will also be the first World Cup to be held in South America since Argentina 1978. No other South American country has hosted the World Cup more than once.
